Class Description

RETHINKING SHOPPING: FUTURE TACTICS FOR BIG BOX RETAIL

The objective of this course is to increase student’s awareness of dynamic information systems that interface exclusive infrastructures, with the focus on improving the everyday while overlaying a system of network protocols (systems) that challenge the status quo in existing business (retail) environments. Our focus of study will be a Costco Wholesale Warehouse in
NE Cincinnati.

Students will create their projects in the context of an existing infrastructure with the intent to identify problems, conceptualize, and propose systems and potential solutions that utilize emerging technologies and that take advantage of the downturn in today’s marketplace to innovate and leapfrog the shopping experience of today, and speculate on what will come
next.
